Spend seven days, six nights at Cano Palma Biological Station in the tropical rainforests of Parque Nacional Tortuguero on the northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Participants will be trained in morning census surveys of Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) nests. Our group will also support the conservation mission of Cano Palma Biological Station patrolling the beaches at night to prevent poaching. Participants will also have the opportunity to conduct Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus Linnaeus), Mantled Howler Monkey (Alouatta palliata), bat (Order Chiroptera), and Great Green Macaw (Ara ambigua) surveys.
Food and accommodations are included. Accommodations are a shared, dormitory-style cabin for all participants. The biological station is in one of the most remote parts of Costa Rica and is accessible only by boat.
